        About Us

        The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) is a public research university founded in 1990. Affiliated with the University of the Arctic, Universities Canada, the International Association of Universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and U Sports, UNBC is regarded as one of the best smallest universities in the country.

        It offers undergraduate programs in arts, commerce, health sciences, applied sciences, social work, and nursing, along with postgraduate courses in history, health science, management, business, international studies, and integrated wood design.

        Students are taught by highly qualified faculty members. Students have the option of choosing from a wide range of courses based on their areas of interest. Students also get to work as interns and get industrial experience. Many industry professionals attend interactive sessions, guest lectures, and practical seminars at the institution. In addition, the university's student group publishes a weekly student newspaper and operates a community radio station (88.7 FM).

        Scholarships

        Students can obtain the funds necessary to finance their higher education through a range of awards and scholarships offered by the university. Some other options to obtain the funds are government and bank loans, private, corporate, and public scholarships and bursaries.

        Services & Facilities

        At UNBC, students are provided with all of the necessary campus amenities. The campus is known for its innovative architecture and is home to the Health Sciences building, the Research laboratory building, the Weller Library, and a residence hall. It houses the Wood Innovation and Design Centre, which Michael Green Architect, a well-known architecture firm, designed. It acts as a resource for wood-related education and research. The campus was awarded the Campus Sustainability Leadership Award for being a green and clean campus in the city.

        The campus library offers a large collection of periodicals, research papers, books, and magazines, which helps students to immerse well in the learning environment. UNBC is easily accessible by public transportation and has numerous cafes and eateries near the campus. Students can also find medical stores, stationery stores, and basic stores within walking distance of the campus.


        Accomodation

        The UNBC offers housing options at its two residential buildings, both located within a 5-minute walk of the campus's center. It has a combined housing capacity of over 500 people and houses fully furnished apartment suites, including kitchens, living areas, private bedrooms with beds and tables, and communal bathrooms. WiFi, laundry facilities on each floor, social rooms, and study halls are all available in each building.

        Admissions Requirements

        University of Northern British Columbia - Prince George Campushas different eligibility requirements for different courses. However, some requirements remain the same for every student, like:

        • The student must be 18 years or above at the time of admission.
        • A student from a non-English speaking country must prove their language proficiency by attempting IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or other equivalent exams.
        • The student needs to provide original transcripts from all the previously attended academic institutions (If the original transcripts are not in English, translated copies of the same must be submitted with the original documents).
